God Creates Light
Genesis 1:1–5
Highlights
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
- He created time, space, and matter - God has always existed. There is only one God.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
- God is present, the Spirit is present, the Word is present
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
- John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
- John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
- Everything God made was good…no sin, no problems, perfect creation
5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
- God is the one who says what things are. He is the one who says what is true
- God created in 6 days..morning and evening
