One of the biggest challenges we face regarding spiritual growth is idols. These creep into our hearts - sometimes when we aren't even aware. In fact, one definition of sin is seeking to fulfill a ligitimate need in an illigitimate way. When we do this, we always suffer. It might be through disappointment or by hurting those around us as we chase what we think will fulfill our hearts. The good news is that God has designed us to be fulfilled with Hiimself and has given us all we need to experience His life to the full. This "discipleship essential" is all about understanding how idols work and how to exchange them for the true life available to us in Jesus.
